What the award means for us

Winners were selected on the strength of their product, international ambitions, financial feasibility, sustainability and motivation to expand abroad. Over the next year, the fund will support us with a trade mission, access to the global network of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, coaching from EY advisers, an evofenedex membership and language training. The full list of winners has been published by evofenedex and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).

This fits how CarbonLeap already works. Our customers have transport emissions spread across many countries, and our partner network operates trucks, vessels and aircraft worldwide. Because Book and Claim separates the emission reduction from the physical fuel, a reduction made in one market can be claimed by a company in another. The programme helps us build the local relationships we need to bring more supply partners and customers into that network.

“Transport emissions don't stop at borders, and neither do our customers' supply chains. Book and Claim lets a company reduce the emissions of its freight anywhere in the world without changing carriers or routes. The Oranje Handelsmissiefonds gives us the network and support to bring that to more markets, faster. Explaining all of that in 30 seconds on stage was the hard part.”

Frequently asked questions

What award did CarbonLeap win?

CarbonLeap is one of the 10 winners of the Oranje Handelsmissiefonds 2026, a Dutch fund that helps SMEs grow internationally. We were selected from more than 200 entries, and the winners were announced on 30 September 2026 at the Nationaal Export Event in The Hague. The fund is run by evofenedex, EY, DHL Express, Language Institute Regina Coeli and RVO, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Why is international growth important for CarbonLeap?

Transport emissions cross borders, and so do our customers' supply chains. CarbonLeap's customers are companies whose freight moves by road, sea and air across many countries, and lower-carbon fuels become available in some markets earlier than others. Growing internationally lets us connect that demand with supply wherever the fuel switch can happen today.

How does CarbonLeap's international partner network work?

CarbonLeap works with carriers, shipping lines, airlines and fuel suppliers worldwide that switch to lower-carbon fuels such as HVO, bioLNG, marine biofuels and SAF. Each reduction is verified by an independent body, such as DNV, Control Union or Verifavia, and registered in our CarbonBank registry. Through Book and Claim, we transfer those reductions to our customers, wherever their own shipments run.

How will the Oranje Handelsmissiefonds help CarbonLeap grow abroad?

Over the next year, the fund gives CarbonLeap a trade mission, access to the global network of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its embassies, coaching from EY advisers and training through evofenedex. We will use this to build local relationships with new supply partners and customers.

Can carriers and fuel suppliers outside the Netherlands partner with CarbonLeap?

Yes. CarbonLeap partners with transport companies and fuel suppliers in any country that use, or plan to use, lower-carbon fuels. We connect them with companies that pay for the resulting emission reductions, which helps cover the extra cost of the fuel. If your company runs trucks, vessels or aircraft on lower-carbon fuel, contact us.

Reduce your transport emissions, wherever you ship

Keep your carriers, routes and contracts. Our partner network makes the fuel switch, and you claim the verified reduction.
